Finery London is one of those interesting British brands that I really like. The appeal for me lies in exclusivity; there's an unlikelihood of clocking a fellow Finery-wearer on your daily travels.
Sure, price points are little more premium than your standard high street stores, but then so is the quality. Cuts are flattering, fabrics are thoughtfully chosen, designs are original as opposed to catwalk carbon copies. I've shopped with Finery for a some time, so I was super happy when the PR team contacted me last month and kindly offered a couple of styles from their party edit. My choices - the silver lurex Finery Baird dress and the Crosslet plum jumpsuit are my kind of party pieces because they don't need much in the way of accessories. I am quite a minimalist dresser (read: lazy) so anything that makes a statement with limited effort is ideal.
MY FINERY FAVOURITES:
I'm going through a full-on studio 54 disco fashion phase at present, so the silver lurex Baird dress was no-brainer. I'm pretty obsessed with this fashion era and spend quite a lot of time studying the looks worn by Jerry Hall, Bianca Jagger et al on the 70sbabes insta account. A little tip - this dress is quite closely cut, so I sized up because I wanted more of a swishy seventies fit.
The Finery Crosslet jumpsuit is a style I wouldn't normally go for, as low-cut stuff scares me (!) However, I have recently come into the possession of my first Wonderbra - and it's a game-changer! If you don't have much of a cleavage, a Wonderbra seriously opens up a whole new world of clothing possibilities. The jumpsuit itself feels very cool to wear - there's something a bit less try hard about an all-in-one in comparison to a dress. It's also a decent length - I'm 5'10 and can wear it with a heel.
You might notice these photos are little different in style from my usual outfit posts. Going forwards I'll be actively trying to play with art direction used in my outfit shoots and push myself to experiment a little more.
I had it in my head for some time I wanted to shoot amongst the neon-lights of Chinatown in Soho, and I'm really pleased with the end results. As ever, it would be great to hear your thoughts! Sophie x
