Let's talk about the SS17 jumpsuit trend. I shouldn’t admit this when I have a fashion blog – but I’m fairly hopeless when it comes to assembling outfits. I have to think long and hard about what goes with what, and even then, there’s usually an element that’s off-kilter (generally the bloody shoes. Why the f*** is it so tricky to find the right shoes?)
Which is why I’m very in favour of an all-in-one. Jumpsuits / dungarees / playsuits / boilersuits; whichever your onesie of choice, they are a failsafe purchase if you’re rubbish at getting dressed like me.
I'm wearing: Jumpsuit: Great Plains c/o [in the sale yassss] | Lace up sandals: Boden [in sale also!] | Sunglasses: Karen Walker | Chelsea Crossbody Bag: Loxley England
More all-in-ones to that I heart:
I reckon this Great Plains 3/4 length jumpsuit is the near-perfect all in one. It feels smart enough for work thanks to mannish button up front, but looks equally as good with trainers for the weekend. The fabric is really lovely too, it’s made from soft tencel that has an almost suede-like feel. In terms of fit, I’m tall (5’10 and size 10) and the size small is pretty perfect on me. I have also seen petite bloggers wearing this piece too and it looks really good when it sits around the ankle.
Great Plains actually asked me to pick a piece from their website that I would wear for a wedding for this particular campaign. Would I wear this jumpsuit to a wedding? Absolutely. I’ve been to a couple of weddings recently and I love how traditional wedding guest dressing is being usurped by more unconventional and informal attire. This is the kind of piece you can add some statement heels to to dial things up a notch.
By the way, I shot this photos in and around the Barbican Estate which is a location I’m currently obsessed with. Visiting the estate is like stepping back in time to the 1960s / 70s, it's perfectly preserved and stands still in time. There’s even a fully functioning laundrette with washing machines in wonderfully retro hues duck-egg blue. If you’re in the Barbican area of London, it’s so worth a detour, the gardens are very pretty - it’s a little peaceful-yet-brutalist oasis in the city.
Thank you for the photos Hannah Rose x
