Where to buy an affordable real leather biker jacket on the high street? It’s a question I have been posed by my sister and a few of my girlfriends recently, so I thought it would make for a useful blog post. And boy have I done my research, there options aplenty below the jump.
It’s the perfect time to invest in a biker, I promise you’ll get tons of wear out of one in the coming months. Whilst the climate is balmy, a biker accompanies me when I go ‘out out’. When the leaves begin to fall, I layer up my biker over roll-neck knits, before wearing this most prized of possessions under coats & furry gilets when it’s f*cking freezing. My mantra? Whatever the weather - leather!
So let’s talk budget – on the high street you’ll need a minimum of £150 for a quality biker, ranging up £500 for something more special. I know it can be hard to part with that much dollar for one piece, however, the cost-per-wear makes a leather biker a super economical splurge.
Now let’s discuss colour. A classic black leather jacket is always a good starting point (I love my black La Redoute biker); every wardrobe needs one. Do also consider a beautiful oxblood leather jacket or a creamy ecru biker, I think you’ll be amazed at how many outfits these versatile colours complement and they have a certain je ne sais quoi that darker leathers lack.
In terms of cut, if you’re curvier, avoid double breasted styles and wear yours open for a more flattering look. Petite? Topshop has a lovely black leather for less than >£200. Oh & if you care about trends, slick & glossy leathers are this season’s must-have, but that kind of defeats the object when you’re making a ‘forever’ purchase. Just pick a leather biker you love & prepare to wear it non-stop.
