LFF OUTFITS: MCARTHURGLEN'S #TRENDCLASH

Since it cropped up on the catwalks in 2013, the pastels trend has freaked the hell out of me. As a compulsive purchaser of garments in 50 shades of grey, I am the least suitable candidate for this highly feminine colour palette. So when McArthurGlen designer outlets sent me a parcel of  sugar sweet macaron-hued clothing to style for their SS14 #Trendclash campaign, initially I panicked.

To trial the trend properly, I decided to commit fully to the sugar-rush colour palette and team it with my Topshop rose pink coat and more pastel metallic accessories. It came as a surprise to me that I rather liked the pretty colour tones once on, I thought pastels might wash out my pale complexion but they actually complimented it. Prancing around Chelsea, I felt like I had stepped off the set off Gossip Girl in such a put-together outfit. Will I be wearing top to toe pastels again? Definitely, although I might have to throw in a bit of grey marl to tone down the look. Will you be trying pastels for SS14?
